Banjarturi Village, Warureja District, Tegal Regency (09/08/2023) – In starting a business, it is very important to have legality in granting permits for the business. Legality in Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) business actors can take various forms, such as legality on brands, the halalness of a product, to business identification numbers. Basically, the Business Identification Number (NIB) is the earliest form of legality to be owned by every business actor. The policy regarding NIB has been stipulated in RI Presidential Regulation No. 91 of 2017 concerning the Acceleration of Business Implementation.
Just like a driver’s license that every driver must have when he wants to drive a vehicle, NIB must also be owned when someone wants to run a business. Even so, in fact, not all MSMEs have legal business licenses such as the absence of NIB ownership, as happened in Banjarturi Village, Warureja District, Tegal Regency.
Banjarturi Village is one of the villages that has various MSMEs, ranging from services, Mabel, to food and drinks, some of which are home-produced. This is quite unfortunate when MSMEs spread across Banjarturi Village do not yet have a NIB as a requirement for running their business.
This is motivated by the community’s concern about paying taxes if they want to register their business in the NIB. In fact, for MSMEs that have a NIB to be able to request tax payments, these MSMEs must have income above IDR 500,000,000, while those below this income will not be taxed.
Conversely, if MSMEs already have a NIB, there will be many advantages for businesses, such as making it easier to apply for loans to banks, getting business assistance through government programs, and making it easier to get other business legal documents. Thus, the government is promoting NIB registration for every msme in Indonesia, including those in Banjarturi Village. The NIB registration assistance to MSMEs was then made into a program by one of Undip’s KKN Team II students named Azzahra Ananda Harafa from the Faculty of Law.
The activity was carried out by collecting data on three (3) UMKM in Banjarturi Village, namely UMKM Rempeyek Bu Dairoh, Rengginang 6 Bersaudara, and Rengginang Bu Mi’ah. Then, the activity continued with participation in outreach activities held by the Warureja District in the NIB education for all MSMEs in the Warureja District and participating in the practice of registering NIB directly. After that, NIB registration activities are carried out through the Online Single Submission (OSS) website until the issuance of the NIB. Then, the NIB can be printed and given to the business actor concerned.
Through this program, the community expects that the registration of NIB or other forms of legality will be intensified and continued in order to develop a better business. Thus, the community’s economic performance in doing business in Banjarturi Village becomes stable and even increases. In addition, the community can survive in increasingly fierce business competition because many of them have legality as proof of credibility and licensing in marketing their businesses outside the Warureja District.
