Jolotigo Village, Pekalongan, (24/7/2023) – Narcotics are a substance or drug derived from various sources, including plants, synthetic or semi-synthetic, which has the capability to cause a decrease or modification of consciousness, and has the potential to create physical dependence or psychological. The use of narcotics that are not controlled and carried out without a proper medical prescription has the potential to produce adverse effects on the health and also the social life of individuals who consume them. Based on data released by the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) that there are 49 narcotics networks, both on an international and national scale, that have reached various levels of society in various regions, both in villages and cities throughout Indonesia. The prevalence of drug use also shows a significant trend of increasing, reaching around 4.8 million individuals.
Therefore, as a preventive measure, Diponegoro University (Undip) Student Team II Community Service Program (KKN) held an activity in the form of education on the prevention of narcotics abuse in Jolotigo Village, Talun District, Pekalongan Regency on July 24 2023 which was attended by 18 villagers. This activity aims to increase public awareness about the dangers of narcotics and to mobilize prevention efforts to create an environment free from narcotics abuse. No. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics. The activity was carried out with an educative and interactive approach. The people of Jolotigo Village were given the opportunity to participate in question-and-answer sessions and discussions regarding the problem of narcotics abuse.
With the implementation of the narcotics abuse prevention education program by the Undip KKN Team II students, the hope to create a society that is aware and responsive to the dangers of narcotics is increasingly real. The involvement of students in providing a good understanding of the negative effects of narcotics abuse proves the important role of universities in making social contributions to society. Hopefully, this prevention effort can have a positive impact on creating a safe village and avoiding narcotics abuse.
