Kalirejo Village, Pekalongan, (24/7/2023) – Drug use among the younger generation is increasingly worrying. Narkoba is an abbreviation for narcotics, psychotropics, and other addictive substances. Drug abuse is the use of drugs classified as narcotics, psychotropics, and other addictive substances that are not in accordance with their function or use outside of medical settings without doctor supervision. Several cases of drug abuse do not only originate from adults but have penetrated into the youth and university environment, which is the group most vulnerable to drug use. The high rate of drug abuse in Indonesia indicates the need for more intervention to overcome it. The challenge to eradicate drugs is the responsibility of all Indonesian people. Efforts are needed from both the central and regional governments to overcome this. According to the National Narcotics Agency (BNN), as many as 2.2 million teenagers in 13 provinces in Indonesia are perpetrators of drug abuse and this figure continues to increase every year.

On this occasion, on Monday, 24 July 2023, Undip Community Service II Team II students for the 2022/2023 period located in Kalirejo Village, Talun District, Pekalongan Regency provided education on preventing drug abuse to Talun 1 Public High School students. In Kalirejo Village itself, there are many teenagers who attend public junior and senior high schools, which of course, as they grow older, will become aware of drugs. This educational activity with counseling on anti-drugs is carried out by delivering material through presentations, interactive sharing, quizzes with prizes, and assisting with attractive posters with the hope that all students at the high school will be more interested and easy to understand the material provided.
Materials explained include Narcotics, Psychotropics, and Other Addictive Substances, Drug Classification, Drug Abuse, Regulations on Narcotics, Effects of Drug Abuse, as well as clarifying why drugs are prohibited, and tips for avoiding drugs. After the counseling session was over, Undip KKN TIM II students for the 2022/2023 period gave posters containing brief information about drugs, groups, and examples, governing regulations, tips on avoiding drug abuse, and invitations to avoid drug use and abuse to the school to be affixed on school environment so that high school students and female students are able to better understand the importance of avoiding the dangers of drugs, so that it is hoped that students can stay away from drugs and can become an intelligent, superior and quality generation.
