Student Involvement

At the Faculty of Law, Diponegoro University, undergraduate students are not only positioned as learners in the classroom, but also as active partners of lecturers in the development of legal science. Through the integration of the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi (Three Pillars of Higher Education), FH Undip requires student involvement in research projects and community service managed by lecturers and departments.

The Purpose of Undergraduate Student Involvement

The involvement of undergraduate students in this activity has a strategic objective:

Strengthening a Culture of Research from an Early Age::

Familiarizing students with comprehensive legal research methodologies to support the quality of their final projects (theses).

Achievement of Key Performance Indicators (IKU):

Supporting the achievement of IKU-5 (Lecturers' work is used by the community or receives international recognition) and IKU-2 (Students gain experience outside the campus).

Progressive Law Implementation:

Encouraging students to see firsthand how progressive legal values and Pancasila are applied in solving legal problems within society.

Downstreaming of Science:

Ensuring that the legal theories studied in lectures can be applied in practice to assist with the legal needs of local and national communities.

Mechanism and Form of Activities

Undergraduate students are involved through various schemes, including:

Research Assistant:

Students assist lecturers in collecting field data, interviewing legal informants, and drafting scientific publications published in accredited national journals and reputable international journals.

Community Service Team Members:

Students are directly involved in legal education programs, such as legal counseling in assisted villages, coastal community empowerment programs, and legal literacy assistance for vulnerable groups.

Impact on Students and Institutions

For Undergraduate Students: Improving graduate employability. Graduates not only receive a diploma, but also a strong research portfolio and field experience, preparing them to become reliable problem solvers.
For Institutions: Increasing the number of joint publications between lecturers and students, which directly impacts the rise of Undip’s Faculty of Law in the QS World University Rankings by Subject.
For the Community: The presence of undergraduate students in community service programs provides a fresher and more participatory approach to dispute resolution or increasing legal awareness at the grassroots level.

Through this involvement, the Undip Faculty of Law Undergraduate Program ensures that each of its graduates has academic maturity as well as high social sensitivity in accordance with the motto “Undip Bermartabat, Undip Bermanfaat” (Undip with Dignity, Undip with Benefits).
